Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) expresses its sincere appreciation to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Civil Aviation as well as the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for their timely and decisive intervention in addressing the recent challenges arising from disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

The situation had posed a serious threat to the aviation industry and air travelers, with the possibility of an unprecedented 100% increase in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices. Such a surge would have significantly impacted airline operations and led to sharp fare increases for passengers.

Thanks to the proactive efforts of the Hon’ble Government and the concerned Ministries, this potential crisis has been effectively mitigated. The increase in ATF prices has been limited to a partial and staggered rise of 25%, thereby cushioning both airlines and passengers from severe financial strain.

At a time when stability is crucial for the aviation sector, this thoughtful and forward-looking approach is highly commendable. It not only safeguards the interests of travelers but also supports the sustainability of domestic airlines.

TAAI extends its profound gratitude to the Hon’ble Government and the Ministries for their outstanding support and commitment to maintaining the health and stability of the aviation industry.

TAAI has also requested the Hon’ble Government to prevent any further rise in ATF prices, in order to reduce the burden on travelers and to avoid a larger negative impact on the travel sector.

Such an increase would add to the financial strain on passengers and could further hinder the recovery of the industry.
