In the lead-up to the opening of Noida International Airport in Jewar, the government of Uttar Pradesh has stepped up efforts to improve public transport connections. In the first phase, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered officials to deploy 110 electric buses to strengthen regional mobility infrastructure and support airport connections.

These directives were handed down during Wednesday’s fourth meeting of the Chief Minister-chaired State Transformation Commission. Adityanath stated that the public transport system should be completely functional prior to the scheduled commencement of flight services on June 15, after reviewing the status of the planned deployment of 500 electric buses throughout Noida, Greater Noida, and the YEIDA region.

Plans for the growth of the state’s electric car infrastructure were also evaluated by the Chief Minister. At the conference, officials shared the following information: the number of electric vehicles registered in Uttar Pradesh is around 15.5 lakh, and by 2030, the government plans to have 10,000 charging stations for electric vehicles. Approximately 2,600 charging stations have gone live around the state.

The chief minister stressed the importance of better connection during the evaluation of large motorway projects, saying that it would give new impetus to industrial growth, investments, and job creation. He issued an order compelling authorities to speed up procedures related to strategic infrastructure projects’ land purchase and exchange.

Nearly 55% of the land purchase for the Farrukhabad Link Motorway has been completed, according to officials who told the meeting. Adityanath gave the go-ahead for the Agra-Lucknow-Purvanchal Link Motorway, Jewar Link Motorway, and Jhansi Link Motorway to finish acquiring the necessary property by June 30th. Additionally, the government has verified that the Meerut-Haridwar Motorway alignment has been authorised and that a strategy for purchase is currently in the works.

The Multi Modal Transport Hub and the Multi Modal Logistic Hub were among the logistics and industrial projects that had their progress appraised at the meeting. Officials have announced that land acquisition is ongoing for the remaining components of the transport hub, but that 301 of the 323 hectares needed for the logistics hub project have already been acquired.

Adityanath further ordered the acceleration of projects connected to Lucknow’s planned Seed Park and Textile Park as well as the enhancement of procedures to facilitate investments in the state’s Defence Corridor. In order to bolster export-oriented infrastructure for the agricultural and fishing industries, the meeting went over the proposed Agriculture Export Hub close to Jewar International Airport and the Aqua Bridge project in Unnao in further detail.

The Chief Minister has directed officials to give priority to projects under the ‘CM Samiksha’ monitoring program and has also announced the establishment of a special monitoring cell inside the CMO to oversee the tracking and implementation of projects on a regular basis.
