Senior IAS officer Shri Rajiv Bansal has taken charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of Air India. Today he accepted charges at Air India’s Headquarters in New Delhi. Before this, Shri Bansal was in the position of Additional Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. In 2017, Shri Bansal had held extra charge of CMD, Air India.
Shri Rajiv Bansal, an IAS officer of Nagaland cadre graduated from IIT, Delhi in 1986. Shri Bansal, a civil engineer in profession, has a Diploma in Finance from ICFAI, Hyderabad and an Executive Masters in International Business from IIFT, New Delhi.
In his long and distinguished vocation, he has worked as Secretary, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission; Joint Secretary in the Department of Heavy Industries and as Director in Aviation Ministry. Earlier he has been on the boards of BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited), National Aviation Company of India Ltd (NACIL) – prior name of Air India, and Alliance Air, among other organizations.
