South Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa (SAPMENA) startups are being invited by L’Oréal to co-create the future of AI-powered commerce, creator ecosystems, and sustainable beauty solutions through their 2026 Big Bang Beauty Tech Innovation Program. By providing selected startups with a fully funded commercial pilot with one of its forty international brands, the global beauty major is positioning the program as a launchpad for scalable innovation. Additionally, the winners will have the opportunity to expand their business into 35 different SAPMENA markets and will be mentored by senior executives and ecosystem partners for a whole year. Seven startups from nations like the UAE, India, and Australia have advanced to the commercial pilot stage so far in the program’s third year.

Three big changes in the industry are the subject of the 2026 edition: solutions for the circular economy, ecosystems led by creators and affiliates, and AI-powered commerce. Connected Brand Experience, Creators & Affiliates, AI-Powered Commerce, Science for Beauty, and Innovation for Good are the five innovation themes that startups can apply under. L’Oréal SAPMENA Zone President Vismay Sharma, who spoke on the initiative, compared the area to “Silicon Valley for Beauty Tech” due to the high growth of digital commerce and the prevalence of digital native consumers. Jacques Lebel, Managing Director of L’Oréal India, spoke about how startups are influencing the development of new beauty technology solutions and how the beauty market in India is changing rapidly. L’Oréal India’s Chief Digital and Marketing Officer Saloni Shah Javeri made the observation that consumers’ perceptions of beauty are being transformed by innovations driven by sustainability, creator ecosystems, and AI-driven personalisation.

With projects showcasing AI-driven influencer discovery, real-time consumer intelligence, and sustainable materials science, among other real-world applications, the program also featured 2025 winners from around the world, including Indian startups like Without and Sravathi AI, as well as Heatseeker, Halo AI, and Wubble AI. With a growing startup ecosystem in India, Singapore, and the Middle East, the SAPMENA region is being considered as a proving ground for beauty tech innovations, thanks to its large digitally active consumer base. Submissions will be accepted until July 3, 2026, with regional finals taking place in August and September. The grand finale is set to take place in Singapore in November of the same year. This initiative is part of L’Oréal’s larger strategy to form partnerships with startups to innovate in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), data-driven commerce (DBC), and sustainability (Sustainability) in the global beauty industry.
