Grand Chennai by GRT Hotels and Resorts recently played host to the second GReaT Shef, a culinary competition that seeks to honour female home cooks and foodies from the Chennai area and the surrounding areas.
A live cooking challenge, with finalists preparing their trademark dishes in front of an industry jury panel, was the culmination of the event’s several rounds of competition.
Among those who served on the jury were Nagesh, Sheetharaman Prasad, Ganesh U, Kishore Kumar, and V N Kumar.
“It was genuinely remarkable to witness such skilled home cooks emerge from their kitchens and excel on a professional level today,” said Sheetharam Prasad, corporate executive chef of GRT Hotels & Resorts. The demonstration’s deftness and originality demonstrate that heart is the key component of any dish. Here at GRT Hotels, we are ecstatic to give these ladies a chance to turn their passion for cooking into a lauded profession. Everyone on our culinary crew was impressed by how well they performed while the heat was on.
Winners were awarded prizes of ₹1 lakh after the competition came to a close. Prizes included gourmet meal certificates and overnight stays at five-star hotels in Mamallapuram, Yercaud, and Kodaikanal.
