On World Heritage Day (April 18), Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (UPSTDC) is organising special heritage walks in five iconic cities of the state: Varanasi, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Jhansi, and Agra.
Speaking at the launch of the heritage walk and tour packages, Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said the goal is to connect people, especially youth, with the state’s rich historical and cultural heritage. Through these heritage walks, participants will explore the architectural marvels, historical significance, and vibrant culture of these cities. The events will include expert-guided tours, cultural performances, and local cuisine tastings. The broader aim is not only to boost tourism but also to spread awareness about heritage conservation.
The TDC’s Travel Division will conduct the heritage walks on April 18. Trained guides will lead the participants through key historical sites, offering in-depth insights. In addition to historical narratives, tourists will get a first-hand experience of local folk art, crafts, and culinary traditions. The program is designed to make Uttar Pradesh’s cultural richness accessible to a wider audience.
Special packages have been curated for each location, covering transport, guide services, entry tickets, and refreshments. Each walk will last approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Package pricing will start at Rs 899 for Agra, Rs 475 for Varanasi, Rs 850 for Jhansi, Rs 500 for Prayagraj, and Rs 800 for Lucknow per person. Bookings can be made through the official UPSTDC website at www.upstdc.co.in.
The tourism minister also highlighted that Uttar Pradesh is currently leading the country for its domestic tourism and is working towards achieving a top position in international tourism as well. Continuous development of tourist destinations and infrastructure is underway to attract more visitors and elevate the state’s presence on the global tourism map.
