Sanctuary Amaidiyana, a 23-key resort and spa situated on the outskirts of Auroville, has been launched by CGH Earth. The addition of this new resort strengthens the group’s foothold in the wellness hospitality market, which prioritises ecological consciousness, regional traditions, and complete guest rejuvenation.
The resort, created by architect Mona Doctor-Pingel of Auroville, is named after the Tamil term for calm and serenity. The hotel has wellness areas, Ayurveda suites, garden views, locally made furnishings, artwork by Auroville artists, and more.
“When thoughtfully crafted, every space has the potential to tell a story,” stated Michael Dominic, CEO and Managing Director of CGH Earth. The story comes to life at Sanctuary Amaidiyana, a peaceful haven that brings harmony and subtly encourages artistic expression. We have designed an environment that is in perfect accord with the Auroville spirit: a place where the earth is an integral part of the building, where the food is based on the seasons and local artisans, and where health is an everyday reality. “Amaidiyana” means “eco-luxury with purpose,” which means that it is based on being mindful, having connections, and enjoying life to the fullest.
A Watsu pool kept at 32–34°C for warm-water therapy and the Heiwa wellness area are two of the most important features.
In Amaidiyana, all aspects of health are brought together in a single, cohesive whole. George Joseph, VP of operations at CGH Earth, described it as “a philosophy that unites healing practices, conscious tourism and quiet restoration under one roof,” saying that it is more than just a wellness center.
In addition, he mentioned that the retreat’s culinary program is inspired by CGH Earth’s Conscious Cuisine philosophy as well as the rich culinary traditions of Auroville and Tamil Nadu. Artisanal Auroville cheeses, breads, chocolates, cereals, and sauces are served with fresh herbs and vegetables plucked from the organic kitchen garden that is located on the premises.
