On 21 June, the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai celebrated International Yoga Day with a special morning event at AUM Life, Mumbai’s innovative wellness hub dedicated to yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, holistic therapies, and healthy living.
The session was led by renowned yoga instructor and wellness educator Rasika Akshad Pawar and brought together friends of Israel, members of the diplomatic community, and wellness enthusiasts for a refreshing and enjoyable start to the day. Among the guests, Deputy Chief of Mission, Ms. Avishag Hefer who practice yoga daily, also participated in the activity.

Following the session, guests enjoyed a healthy and nourishing breakfast prepared especially for the occasion. The event highlighted the positive impact of yoga on both physical and mental well-being while creating an opportunity for people from different backgrounds to connect through a shared experience.
Yoga is one of India’s greatest gifts to the world, and its popularity continues to grow in Israel, where many people have made it part of their daily lives. Across Israel, yoga studios, wellness centres, community classes, and retreats attract people of all ages who practice yoga not only for fitness and flexibility, but also for mindfulness, balance, and overall well-being. Today, thousands of Israelis practice yoga regularly, reflecting the deep appreciation in Israel for this important Indian tradition.

Similar International Yoga Day events were held across Israel, reflecting the close friendship between India and Israel and their shared appreciation for health, wellness, and cultural exchange.

Commenting on the occasion, Yaniv Revach, Consul General of Israel in Mumbai, said: “Yoga is a wonderful gift that India has shared with the world. I practice yoga regularly and have experienced its benefits firsthand. It helps me stay active, improve my breathing, and find balance in a busy life. I am happy to see how popular yoga has become in Israel, where many people enjoy and practice it regularly. Events like this are a great way to bring people together and celebrate the strong friendship between India and Israel.”
As India and Israel continue to strengthen their relationship, initiatives like this help build people-to-people connections and celebrate the values that both countries share.
