The timeless refinement of Savile Row found a new address in Mumbai as master tailor Robert Bailey returned to India for an exclusive trunk show, recently held at Modernist, the private members’ club at Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai.

On his second visit to the country, Bailey brought with him over four decades of bespoke expertise and a legacy steeped in British craftsmanship. Over three days, clients were invited to private, by-appointment consultations where Bailey offered guidance on fit, silhouette, and styling—alongside a curated selection of over 3,000 luxurious fabrics from heritage mills such as Dormeuil, Scabal, Holland & Sherry, and Loro Piana.

It’s been a pleasure returning to Mumbai. The level of appreciation for true craftsmanship here is remarkable. I’ve found the clientele to be confident, curious, and style-aware. I am keen to express individuality through tailoring but also deeply respect tradition. It’s an exciting market, and I look forward to building on these connections in the months ahead,” said Robert Bailey.

What sets Bailey apart is his ability to adapt Savile Row’s time-honoured tailoring to modern lifestyles. For Mumbai, that meant breathable fabrics, lighter canvases, and subtle changes in cut—while retaining signature details like high armholes and sculpted waists. With clients ranging from lawyers to entrepreneurs, the trunk show reflected India’s growing appreciation for true bespoke craftsmanship, expertly cut and hand-stitched in London.

It was a true pleasure to welcome Robert Bailey to Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai,” said Nitesh Gandhi, General Manager. “At the heart of our hotel is a commitment to curating exceptional experiences. Trunk shows like these bring together artistry and elegance, offering our guests access to some of the world’s finest craftsmanship in Mumbai.”

The trunk show was more than a showcase of bespoke tailoring; it was a celebration of timeless heritage, where each stitch wove together tradition, individuality, and the spirit of cross-cultural craftsmanship. Robert will return to Four Seasons Mumbai shortly, and guests interested in experiencing his bespoke tailoring can connect with the hotel to schedule appointments during his upcoming visits.
