The Hotel Association of India (HAI) has congratulated Mr Suman Billa on his recent appointment as the Director General (Tourism) of the Government of India. This appointment highlights the significance of his leadership at a time when India’s tourism sector is poised for unprecedented growth.

In an official statement, Mr. K.B. Kachru, President of HAI and Chairman – South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group, remarked, “Mr. Billa’s extensive experience in tourism policy and international collaboration positions him well to lead the sector at this crucial juncture. His leadership will undoubtedly support the government’s vision of making tourism a key pillar of India’s economic growth in terms of GDP contribution and employment generation.”

The statement further emphasized that Mr. Billa’s appointment is pivotal when the industry is witnessing strong domestic demand, increased infrastructure investment, and a rapidly growing economy. At the same time, HAI sincerely appreciated Ms Mugdha Sinha for her impactful contributions as Director General (Tourism), acknowledging her proactive approach and dynamic leadership. “During her brief yet notable stint, Ms. Sinha initiated several dynamic steps and fostered a strong rapport with the industry. We are confident that with the same energy and foresight, she will steer India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) towards a pivotal role in shaping the future of Indian tourism,” Mr Kachru added.
