Developing heliports in Valmikinagar and Kaimur, places with a large concentration of tribal population, was announced by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday as part of a targeted push to promote eco-tourism and opportunity in the state’s tribal districts. The project’s overarching goal is to boost tourism and accessibility without compromising the region’s unique cultural and environmental character.
At the CM’s secretariat, as part of the ‘Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026,’ a ‘Samvad’ programme with post-matric scholarship recipients was organised with the topic “Birsa Lives in New Bharat.” The state government would also encourage home-stay facilities within tribal groups, according to Choudhary. Locals will be able to make a living and visitors will have a better grasp of tribal culture thanks to the initiative, which encourages them to get involved.
Running events would be held in tribal areas, according to the CM. First place will receive INR 1 lakh, second place will get INR 75,000, and third place will get INR 50,000. Another important statement he made was the opening of a degree college in Adhaura, Kaimur district. He brought attention to the struggles experienced by the tribal population of that area and emphasised that the government is striving for the progress and success of tribal community.
According to Choudhary, this year marks the 150th anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, an initiative that Prime Minister Narendra Modi began on November 15th, 2018. He remembered Birsa Munda’s birth on November 15, 1875, and how Munda had been involved in the fight for independence and the betterment of tribal society, even though he had been tortured and imprisoned while spearheading a movement against the British.
He went on to say that the prime minister is actively trying, from the ground up, to include pupils from scheduled tribes in mainstream education. In order to help scheduled tribal youngsters succeed, he mentioned the Eklavya schools that the Union government had set up in Bihar. These schools will teach both the Bihar Board and the CBSE curricula.
He spoke about the state’s post-matric scholarship program, which has helped 4,155 students from scheduled tribes and approximately 1,450,000 students from scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. Among the 20.46 lakh students who were aided this year by the pre-matric scholarship were 1.41 lakh pupils from scheduled tribes.
Deputy chief ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, as well as ministers Mithilesh Tiwari for education and Lakhendra Kumar Raushan for the welfare of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, were also present at the event.
