Travel Heights Exclusive | July 17–20, 2025
In a refreshing shift from its iconic desert image, Rajasthan Tourism, in collaboration with its official PR agency, Fortuna PR, curated a captivating Monsoon FAM Tour from July 17th to 20th, highlighting the rain-kissed charm of Dungarpur and Banswara. The initiative aims to reposition Rajasthan as a year-round destination by showcasing its lush monsoon landscapes, tribal richness, and spiritual heritage.
“We aim to break the seasonal stereotype of Rajasthan being just a winter destination. The lush beauty, cultural vibrance, and natural charm of Dungarpur and Banswara during monsoon are nothing short of magical,” said an official from Rajasthan Tourism. “We believe these destinations are the next big thing in experiential and offbeat travel.”

Dungarpur: A Harmony of Hills, Heritage & Faith
The tour began in Dungarpur, nestled in the Aravalli foothills, where nature and spirituality coalesce in beautiful harmony. At the Kesariya Temple, followers of Digambar Jain, Shwetambar Jain , and Sanatan Dharm worship under one roof, offering a rare symbol of religious unity.
Next came Badal Mahal, overlooking Gaib Sagar Lake, where the architectural finesse of Rajasthan’s royalty blends with tranquil waterscapes. A nearby Shiva temple added a divine resonance to the morning trail.
The crown jewel was Juna Mahal, a 700-year-old nine-story palace adorned with mirror work, murals, and frescoes. Untouched by modern renovation, it stands as a living archive of medieval Mewari craftsmanship and the Dungarpur royal legacy.

Banswara: Tribal Traditions, Sacred Sites & Scenic Splendour
From Dungarpur, the journey led to Banswara, often referred to as the “City of Hundred Islands.” Dominated by the Bhil tribal community, the region comes alive with dense greenery during the rains.
The first stop was the ancient Tripura Sundari Temple, a revered Shakti Peeth, housing an 18-armed black stone idol of the Goddess. The elevated hilltop view, combined with monsoon mist, made it a soul-stirring experience.
Then came the serene wonder of Chachakota, where 108 naturally formed islands sit amidst emerald waters and rolling hills. Ideal for kayaking, birdwatching, or simply embracing silence, it offered a surreal escape from the everyday.
The group next explored Mahi Dam, an engineering marvel and a scenic retreat during the monsoon, followed by a visit to Banswara’s highest point, where clouds touched the treetops and valleys stretched into a misty, green tapestry—an unforgettable panoramic experience.
