As part of its ongoing expansion in Austria, Minor Hotels has inked a deal to refurbish the historic Grand Hotel Europa and introduce its NH Collection brand to Innsbruck. After a complete makeover, the hotel, which has been there since 1869, will be renamed the NH Collection Innsbruck Grand Hotel Europa. The 120-room hotel, which is set to open in 2029, will reportedly be the sole five-star establishment in Innsbruck.

Dr. Ernst Hutterer, the property’s owner, has signed the deal, and the operator selection process was aided by the worldwide real estate advising firm Christie & Co.

The hotel, which has long served as a welcome home for kings, business magnates, and tourists from all over the world, is situated just across from Innsbruck’s main train station. The renovation will add meeting rooms, a rooftop bar, wellness facilities, indoor and outdoor pools, extra guestrooms, additional floors and a rooftop bar while preserving the property’s history. Events and festivities will also be held in the restored ancient Baroque Hall.
