Tourism Australia, in partnership with Tourism Events Queensland, will host 15 advocates from the Indian TV and film industry on Saturday, 14 December 2024, the first day of the Brisbane Test between Australia and India.

The advocates will share their experiences in Australia with their combined social media following of around 55 million in India.

Tourism Australia Managing Director Phillipa Harrison said this activity is part of a broader program of work to promote Australia into India throughout the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

“With Indian cricket fans tuning in to watch the Test series in enormous numbers, now is the perfect time for us to ramp up our activity in India and encourage travellers in the market to plan and book an Australian holiday.

“Tourism Australia is doing that through our latest campaign, Howzat for a holiday? Which is running in India throughout the Test series. We have also increased our presence on social media in the market.

“Former Australian Test cricketer David Warner is featured in a new social content series on our @australia social channels, which welcomes Indian travellers to his favourite Australian holiday destinations.

“The India Mega-Famil will also amplify the promotion of Australia on social media in India we are hosting, with the support of Tourism Events Queensland. The 15 influencers visiting Australia will share their experiences with 55 million followers in India.

“With 1.4 billion people and more Indians looking to travel internationally, the market’s potential is endless, and we want to make sure Australia is front of mind for all Indian travellers as they look for a destination for their next holiday.”

The Indian TV and film industry advocates taking part include Mini Mathur (Actress) and Kabir Khan (Director, Screenwriter, Cinematographer); Ishaan Khatter (Actor); Saiyami Kher (Actress); Sara Tendulkar (Model / Media personality) and Sufi Malik (Influencer); and Harsha Bhogle (Friend of Australia, Indian cricket commentator).

After the day of cricket at the Gabba, the advocates will visit destinations across Queensland, including the Gold Coast, Noosa, Sunshine Coast, the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns, and the Tropical North.
