The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) welcomes the Union Budget 2025, highlighting key initiatives that will boost connectivity, enhance infrastructure, and support the tourism sector’s growth.

Rajiv Mehra, President of IATO, shared his perspective on the budget’s impact:

“The Union Budget 2025 introduces highly positive measures for the tourism sector. Extending the UDAN scheme to 120 new cities will significantly boost connectivity, making these destinations more accessible and attractive to tourists.

Additionally, granting infrastructure status to hotels in these destinations will enable them to access credit at lower interest rates, helping reduce operational costs and encouraging investment in the hospitality sector.

The increase in the TCS exemption limit from ₹7 lakh to ₹10 lakh is a welcome move, reducing tax burdens; however, we await further details in the budget fine print.

The e-visa facility for select tourist groups is another promising step to ease travel formalities, making India a more convenient and attractive destination for inbound travelers.”
