An additional step in Cygnett Hotels & Resorts’ strategic development across developing Tier II and Tier III locations in India has been announced with the signing of Cygnett Inn Motihari, a new brownfield hospitality project in Motihari, Bihar. The acquisition will further solidify the company’s expanding footprint in the state. Designed to meet the needs of local businesspeople, social events, and vacationers, the forthcoming hotel will run under Cygnett Inn, the company’s modern midscale brand.
Motihari, in the district of East Champaran, has been developing into a major regional hub due to its growing commercial activity and better transport options. The city is historically significant as the site of Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Satyagraha movement, and the demand for organised hospitality infrastructure is being driven by expanding trade, educational activities, and the regional business activity.
There will be 70 spacious rooms at the hotel, in addition to a variety of services such as a swimming pool, a spa, a fitness center, and an all-day dining restaurant. Meetings, celebrations, and social events have been meticulously planned into the project’s design, alongside hotel possibilities.
The expansive banqueting infrastructure is going to be a major selling point of the property. A 5,500 sq. ft. banquet hall linked to a 17,000 sq. ft. outdoor lawn will be one of three event facilities on the site, making it perfect for weddings, social parties, and large-scale meetings. Conferences, business gatherings, and private parties will be accommodated in the hotel’s two separate meeting rooms, each with an area of about 1,600 square feet and 575 square feet, respectively.
“Hospitality demand in India is increasingly expanding beyond traditional metro markets,” commented Sarbendra Sarkar, Founder and Managing Director of Cygnett Hotels & Resorts, in response to the news. Demand for high-quality branded lodging and event infrastructure is on the rise in emerging cities, thanks to factors like increased regional economic activity, better connectivity, and changing travel habits. This deal is in line with our aim of bolstering our footprint across high-growth markets, and Motihari is a significant market with great long-term potential.
