Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway will be hosting a ten-day culinary celebration of
Bhatkali cuisine at its all-day dining restaurant, Feast from 18th and 25th January. Rooted in the coastal
town of Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada, Bhatkali or Navayath cuisine reflects a rich blend of Arab, Persian,
and Konkani influences.

The culinary experience is led by Chef Fathima Riyaz, a specialist in Bhatkali cuisine, in collaboration with
Executive Chef Sajid Patel. Inspired by her family’s traditional recipes, Chef Fathima brings authentic
coastal flavours to the table, transforming familiar home-style preparations into a refined dining
experience.

Highlights of the menu include signature dishes such as Vermicelli Biryani, Mudkale, Haldi Pana Nevri,
Matta Appo, Lonmeri-based dishes, and other traditional savouries, along with a selection of classic
desserts including Khubusa Poli, Showfapana Poli, Shaala Pudding, and Shoupapana Poli. Each dish
reflects the depth of flavours, cultural influences, and culinary traditions that define Bhatkali cuisine and
its enduring coastal legacy.
