15th of August is a date with destiny.

Our Country, India, the largest democracy in the World, a country that is diverse in every possible sense, i.e. geographically, socially, culturally, and linguistically and is home to The Taj & the mighty Ganga.

From a crippled economy in 1947 to Economic liberalization in 1991 and now to Aatmanirbhar Bharat, India has evolved, making the economy more market & service-oriented, accelerating India’s overall economic development. In recent years India’s business culture has been improving. It is taking big strides in positioning itself as a global manufacturing hub of choice, be it electronics, automobiles, textiles or the pharma sector.

With a population of over 1.3 billion people, India has the World’s largest youth population with a high skilling potential. This large workforce is the biggest asset, and the country has an extraordinary opportunity to take the lead to a brighter future.

This year India is celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to mark 75 years of Independence and to celebrate its people’s history, culture & achievements. It is a tribute to all those who helped India realize its potential and further strengthen the vision of India, which is Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).

In my opinion, the best way to celebrate 75 years of Indian Independence will be to infuse & encourage Three Values in all Indians that may guide our country to a better future:

  1. Building a strong & collective Indian Society ~ One India
  2. Each of us makes one contribution to our country.
  3. Respecting & empowering the Women in our country.

Indian Society is known for its virtue of inclusiveness, acceptance, tolerance and social cohesion, thus making it unique in sustaining our diverse culture. Education is a gateway and plays a positive role. Corruption-free environment, a well-functioning democracy and an instilled sense of freedom & Independence can account for significant contributors to building a strong & collective Indian Society.

We can create an impact by making one contribution to our country. Our mission should be to make even a smallest contribution to improving our nation. The best we can do is to make ourselves the best in whatever capacity we are in. We must do our jobs and responsibilities in the best possible manner. We may think that we are small and have a small role to play, but I think even if we are just a small part, whatever we can do to make life better for our communities/society and the country… is worth it.

Policymakers are also to ensure that the country’s values are upheld by bringing in progressive Policy reforms at the macro level with a long-term view to ensure equality, safety, empowerment, education & health of women. This starts with recognizing and rewarding the economic rights, the political rights and the powerful work women are already doing at the domestic level.

The future of the Atmanirbhar Bharat/ a Self-Reliant India depends on our decisions today. Hence my sincere wish that we take up the three Values mentioned above along with our celebrations of the 75th Independence Day of our Great Country.
