As West Bengal ushers in the vibrant festivities of Durga Pujo, Air India Express has paid homage to tradition with a unique celebration in the skies.
The airline’s Boeing aircraft, VT-BXG, took off from Bagdogra for Bengaluru, featuring a striking tailfin design inspired by the Jamdani weave, a handloom textile renowned for its intricate artistry and cultural legacy.
Marking the special occasion, the crew at Bagdogra Airport joined the festivities, dressed in elegant Jamdani attire, and stood proudly alongside the aircraft. On board, the crew treated travellers to a festive delight — a “Gourmair” sondesh tiramisu, which blends Bengal’s traditional sweet with an international twist.
With 70 weekly flights from Bagdogra and over 130 from Kolkata, Air India Express continues to strengthen its role as a connector of people, places, and cultures.
This initiative is part of the airline’s “Tales of India” program, which showcases the country’s diverse textile traditions while celebrating the artisans who bring them to life. Through this, Air India Express not only honours India’s cultural heritage but also brings regional pride to the forefront of modern aviation.
