In a significant step towards promoting sustainable and responsible tourism, the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI) has announced the launch of a dedicated social media campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission. The initiative aims to create greater awareness among both tourists and residents about the importance of keeping surroundings clean—not only at destinations but also in local neighbourhoods and communities.
“Tourism thrives in a clean and welcoming environment,” the association noted, adding that by encouraging both travellers and residents to adopt responsible practices, India can enhance visitor experiences while also building a healthier, more sustainable future.
As part of this campaign, ADTOI has urged its members and partners to:
Share regular posts, reels, and stories with impactful messages on cleanliness and responsible travel.
Use dedicated hashtags such as #SwachhBharat #CleanIndiaTravel #ResponsibleTourism.
Encourage travellers, stakeholders, and local communities to participate actively in the movement.
Showcase examples of good practices and highlight inspiring before-and-after transformations at various destinations.
In keeping with the spirit of celebration, ADTOI has branded the initiative as “ADTOI Tourism Deepawali”, underscoring the message that a cleaner India is a brighter India—for both citizens and visitors.
To further engage the community, ADTOI has also invited submissions of write-ups, photographs, and stories showcasing inspiring cleanliness initiatives. Please send your contributions to support@adtoi.in. We will publish selected entries in the upcoming ADTOI Connect Bulletin.
With active member participation and amplification across platforms, ADTOI aims to make this campaign both impactful and far-reaching, reinforcing the idea that responsible tourism and Swachh Bharat are closely intertwined.
