This summer, THE SEN invites guests to experience an intentional, immersive, and slow escape. This thoughtfully designed property allows one to slow down, reconnect, and experience time differently where the setting, the pace, and even the smallest details contribute to a feeling of unhurried immersion.
Newly opened in February 2026 and located on a quiet hillside corner of Uttarakhand, THE SEN offers a summer escape rooted in stillness, nature, and sensory living. Here, the season isn’t just spent, it’s styled, savoured, and slowed down.

Intuitive Hotel Design | A Private Sanctuary for The Senses
Overlooking a lush green valley, THE SEN is a private sanctuary for the senses where summer unfolds with a deep connection to the landscape. Conceived by fashion industry veteran and creative entrepreneur Nakul Sen. As the Founder & Creative Director, his intuitive, design-forward philosophy shaped the property to its current form.
Collaborative thinking and effort with his wife Shagun Khanna guided every element from light, materials, spaces, and beyond – ultimately shaping an immersive stay experience in deep respect for the landscape. After four years of thoughtful planning and tireless dedication, THE SEN was born – seamlessly merging their passions for architecture, design, and interiors, along with their shared knowledge and signature disciplines.
Carefully developed around existing trees and natural contours of the hills, preserving the pristine surroundings, THE SEN is rooted in material integrity, craftsmanship, and purposeful spatial design. Here spaces feel private and time slows down when shared moments are spent with loved ones at an unhurried pace.
With just 4 private suites, the property remains intentionally intimate, ideal for families, couples, and close-knit groups, with the option of reserving the entire property for a more personalised stay.
At THE SEN, suites and common spaces are designed to integrate seamlessly into the surrounding landscape, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and sheer curtains inviting natural light in. Each suite is uniquely crafted with distinct views and thoughtful details such as chequered marble flooring, wooden accents, and shower windows that allow ample forest light.
A refined palette of stone, wood, and natural fabrics creates a calm environment, along with open sit-outs, an expansive dining space, a serene pool, and more.
Adventures in a Hidden Destination | Wildlife, Birding, and Cinema in the Pool
Summers here can be experienced at one’s own pace versus time-bound itineraries. Each day unfolds at a gentler, more intentional pace.
Nakul along with Syed Ali Husain, the brand guardian at THE SEN, have been instrumental in curating a range of activities for guests to explore in and around the property, while also shaping its visual identity through a detail-oriented approach and refined precision.
Safaris extend into the quieter stretches of Jim Corbett National Park – into the Sonanadi Zone and the Lansdowne Division, offering a more unhurried way to experience the forest. Here, the landscape shifts to rising hills, forested ridgelines and rivers cutting through the landscape, and a chance to sight Elephants, Tigers, Otters, migratory birds, and more.
Birding with a local naturalist includes guided walks through nearby forest trails, especially active during summer with migratory species and diverse Himalayan birdlife.
Alongside this, nature walks and village trails allow guests to connect with the land and its people.
Evenings transition into a more atmospheric rhythm with Cinema by the Pool – set under open skies, with candlelight, soft silhouettes of the hills, and a live grill shaping an experience that feels both intimate and quietly cinematic.
While these form some of the key summer activities to explore, THE SEN also offers a wider range of curated, experience-led activities, allowing each stay to unfold uniquely.
Stunning Tablescapes by Nakul Sen | A Couture-Inspired, Sensory Expression
At THE SEN, tablescapes form a signature extension of Nakul’s design language. Each table is approached as a composed space, shaped by his couture sensibility that balances structure, fluidity, and material dialogue.
Dining becomes an elemental experience, where the line between table and landscape gently dissolves. A defining signature is the idea of a different tablescape for every meal, evolving with light, mood, and season offering a continuous sense of discovery.
Set against the retreat’s rustic setting, these tablescapes introduce a refined contrast where wood, stone, metal, glass, and fine linen come together in layered compositions. Candlelight, handcrafted elements, and natural textures create a setting that feels both grounded and visually immersive.
As the day unfolds, the tablescape also evolves in quiet rhythm, from soft morning compositions of fresh botanicals, light linens, and gentle hues under filtered forest light, to a more grounded afternoon expression shaped by rustic textures and regional elements.
By evening, it transitions into an intimate, atmospheric setting where shadows deepen, candles glow, and the experience turns slower, more immersive, and quietly cinematic and romantic.
The culinary experience brings together seasonal produce. Also, the boundary between table and terrain gently dissolves, with ingredients often appearing both on the plate and within the setting itself and regional influences, reflecting a more mindful approach to dining.
At THE SEN no two tables are alike; each is shaped by the time of day, the season, and what the land offers in that moment – from vibrant morning palettes of juices, marmalades and fresh-picked flora, to deeper, more romantic settings and tones at night.
