In a strong affirmation of India’s national commitment to fitness and environmental conservation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the second edition of the Alwar Tiger International Half Marathon (ATM–2026) will be held on February 8, 2026, in Alwar.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Aravalli hills and at the gateway to the Sariska Tiger Reserve, the marathon is envisioned not merely as a sporting event but as a people’s movement linking tiger conservation, forest protection, public health, and responsible tourism.

Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari said the international marathon carries forward the Prime Minister’s vision in which healthy citizens, a secure environment, and sustainable development are seen as complementary pillars of progress. She noted that the event aims to connect individual fitness with collective environmental responsibility, inspiring positive and lasting behavioral change among citizens.
The central focus of the half marathon is the conservation of tigers and forest ecosystems. The event will highlight the tiger as a keystone indicator species, emphasizing that protecting tigers directly translates into safeguarding forests, water resources, and biodiversity. Through the marathon, youth, students, and citizens at large will be sensitized to human–wildlife coexistence, biodiversity conservation, and responsible environmental and tourism practices.
According to Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, the marathon is a significant step towards establishing Alwar as a leading national and international hub for eco-tourism, wildlife tourism, and sports tourism. The global spotlight on Sariska Tiger Reserve, the natural heritage of the Aravallis, and Alwar’s rich cultural identity is expected to boost local tourism, hospitality, guide services, and allied sectors—strengthening livelihoods in the region.
Aligned with the Fit India Movement, the marathon will feature multiple race categories: a 21 km Half Marathon, 10 km Run, 5 km Shakti Run, and a 2 km Para Run. The inclusive format ensures participation from youth, women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities, reinforcing the message of fitness for all.
The international stature of the Alwar Tiger International Half Marathon will be further enhanced by the participation of 42 foreign runners from countries including Kenya, South Africa, Morocco, Bahrain, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. Alongside thousands of runners from across India, they will take to the streets of Alwar, carrying the message of tiger conservation and forest protection to a global audience.
The marathon will be organized as a sustainable, plastic-free event, with strong emphasis on responsible waste management and environmentally friendly operations. Its successful execution will involve coordinated efforts by the Rajasthan Government, Alwar district administration, Forest and Wildlife Department, Tourism Department, Sports Department, local bodies, police and security agencies, health and emergency services, civil society organizations, NGOs, local communities, and volunteers.
By blending sport, conservation, and tourism, the Alwar Tiger International Half Marathon sends a clear message to the world: when tigers and forests are protected, sustainable tourism and community prosperity follow.
