Ahead of its anticipated late 2026 debut, the Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur has revealed its culinary strategy and announced collaborations with world renowned chefs Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Garima Arora to create a number of signature dining concepts.
The luxury property, part of Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts portfolio, aims to position itself as a prominent culinary destination in Kuala Lumpur. “At the core of the Waldorf Astoria ethos is delivering unforgettable moments that delight our guests,” stated Candice D’Cruz, vice president, Luxury Brands, Asia Pacific, Hilton. One of the most alluring factors influencing luxury travel nowadays is cuisine. We continue to build on the brand’s legendary tradition of culinary quality through partnerships with forward-thinking chefs like Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Garima Arora, while creating immersive dining experiences that link worldwide expertise with Kuala Lumpur’s rich cultural narrative.
Yaari, a contemporary Indian restaurant influenced by regional cuisines and traditional cooking methods, will be introduced by chef Garima Arora, chef-owner of Bangkok’s Restaurant Gaa. In a modern dining setting, the idea would reimagine traditional Indian cuisine and street food customs.
Three venues—JG KL, ABC Kitchens KL, and The Bar by JG—will be opened at the hotel by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The concepts will be based on Vongerichten’s strategy of fusing French cooking methods with Asian influences.
Chef Garima Arora stated, “Yaari will celebrate the extraordinary diversity of Indian cuisine in ways that feel both authentic and contemporary.” “Yaari is the result of my love of telling stories through food, honouring heritage, being creative, and enjoying a meal with others.” I am excited to invite visitors to discover these innovative ideas in Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant culinary scene.
Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten stated, “Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur offers a unique opportunity to combine a collection of gastronomic experiences that reflect a global perspective alongside a deep respect for place.” “I look forward to creating moments that elevate familiar flavours with refined technique, and Malaysia’s rich cultural tapestry and vibrant culinary heritage provide an inspiring backdrop.”
The agreements are intended to make the hotel a culinary destination for both tourists and locals, according to Etienne Dalanň, general manager of the Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur.
