As India preps for the Republic Day long weekend, Cleartrip’s data signals a travel frenzy, with Gen Z
propelling bookings to new heights amid affordable fares and flexible deals.

Manjari Singal, Chief Growth and Business Officer at Cleartrip, said, “We saw strong growth in
bookings during the New Year 2025, and that growth momentum has carried into the Republic Day
long weekend. Early trends in 2026 show bookings on Cleartrip already exceeding both last year’s
New Year Eve and Republic Day periods, signalling a clear shift towards short breaks and stay-led
trips. Cleartrip’s travel trends tracker PeekABoo shows Gen Z driving this surge, with overall travel up
over 20% year-on-year (YoY). International air bookings have skyrocketed 73% YoY as younger
travellers chase global experiences.”

Demand built through December’s HoHo sale and January’s Republic Day offers like ‘Great Indian
Getaway Days with bank partnerships, while the app early surfaced upcoming long weekends such
as Holi, Ugadi, and Eid to encourage planning. Short-haul travel thrives too, with bus bookings up
1.5x Year over Year on high-demand routes like Bengaluru–Hyderabad and Bengaluru–Chennai, plus
leisure destinations including Goa, Pondicherry, Ooty, and Manali. Airfares remain steady, hotel
bookings have grown nearly 3x Year over Year, and demand centers on key domestic hubs (Delhi,
Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad) and international favourites (Dubai, Bangkok, Phuket,
Singapore), mirroring year-end patterns.

Top metro travellers are booking hotels 3x times quicker. Travel demand is still concentrated in
major hubs. Similarly to year-end travel trends, Dubai, Bangkok, Phuket, and Singapore continue to
be the top overseas destinations, while Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad lead
domestically.
