The renowned brand will make its debut in the capital city of Guwahati with the signing of a Taj, according to Indian Hotels Company (IHCL). Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, was present when the agreement was signed. The construction of a 250-key Taj hotel will require a thorough makeover, the relocation of 150 existing keys, and the addition of 100 new keys to the inventory.

The extended land block of more than nine acres will contain the 250-key Taj Guwahati, which is situated in the center of the city. The urban retreat will provide visitors with an Assamese-inspired hospitality experience. Serving both business and leisure guests, the hotel will have a number of speciality restaurants, large banqueting and meeting spaces, and the brand’s iconic J Wellness Circle.

“The construction of the Taj hotel in Guwahati reflects our confidence in Assam’s economic momentum and Guwahati’s position as the commercial and cultural gateway to the Northeast,” stated Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, IHCL. The launch of Taj will be crucial in bolstering the city’s hospitality ecosystem and fostering its development as a hub for business and tourism as demand in the area continues to change.
