The villagers of Surwaya proudly maintain the historic Surwaya Fort, located approximately 22 kilometres from Shivpuri. The Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh is home to this location, which was previously named ‘Saraswati Pattam.’ King Avantivarman’s Guru Purandar built it in the ninth and tenth centuries to teach Shaivaism.
