The festive season is in full swing, bringing snow, carols, and holiday cheer. With Christmas just weeks away, Santa Claus has embarked on his world tour, swapping Rudolph’s sleigh for his official airline, Finnair – Finland’s national flag carrier. Following visits to London, Berlin and Japan, Santa arrived in India to share the magic of a Nordic Christmas.
Santa’s visit to New Delhi from December 6–8 included a special appearance at the Finnish Ambassador’s residence and spreading good cheer at the NGO – Salaam Balak Trust. At the shelter home run by Salaam Balak Trust, the children warmly welcomed Santa, decorating a corner with a Christmas tree and festive ornaments. He brought smiles to their faces with a feast of festive treats, captured countless joyful moments in photos, and filled the room with the enchanting magic of the holiday season. Additionally, Santa delighted families at DLF CyberHub on December 7, meeting children and their parents in a heartwarming celebration with joy and festive spirit.
Before coming to India, Santa Claus was in London, Berlin, and Japan, busy travelling to bring joy and festivities to improve the well-being of the children of the world while maintaining the global image of Finland as the valid Christmas country and homeland of Santa Claus.
As Finland’s national flag carrier, Finnair connects travellers to Rovaniemi, the official hometown of Santa Claus. The airline operates daily flights from New Delhi to Helsinki, ensuring seamless connections to its vast network, including Rovaniemi. Santa Claus Village is a popular travel destination that welcomes visitors year-round. Guests can meet Father Christmas and immerse themselves in the delightful festive atmosphere. Visitors can admire the Finnish design within the village’s wooden buildings as they send Christmas cards to loved ones and explore atmospheric restaurants, cafes, and gift shops alongside other attractions.
Since 1983, Finnair has been the official airline for Santa Claus. The airline’s collaboration with the Santa Claus Foundation is at the heart of this relationship, which aims to boost children’s well-being worldwide. The initiative traditionally involved Santa flying goodwill tours across Europe and Asia each year and hosting charitable projects to raise funds for education in Nepal.
