The ‘Clean Sohra, Green Sohra’ project is Polo Hotels Group’s CSR effort to enhance municipal infrastructure and garbage management in Sohra (Cherrapunji), Meghalaya. Hotel Polo Towers Limited in Shillong and Manor Floatel Limited in Kolkata are part of the group’s operations that are carrying out the initiative in collaboration with Rotary Guwahati, Luit Trust, and the traditional governing body, Hima Sohra.

Members of the local community, municipal leaders, and industry stakeholders gathered at Polo Resort, Cherrapunjee, to begin the program. Supporting local garbage management and monitoring activities, the business has given essential operational assets such as a Tata 612 dump truck, four Bajaj Pulsar motorbikes, and public awareness signboards as part of the initiative.

“Sohra is not simply a destination on our map,” stated Kishan Tibrewalla, Chairman and Whole-time Director of Polo Hotels Group. That is the core principle around which Polo Hotels Group is based. Our experience over the years has taught us that companies with a strong commitment to environmental responsibility tend to last the longest. We are dedicating this project to Sohra and all the communities that have placed their trust in us to be a good neighbour. Renew Sohra, Revitalise Sohra

Through partnerships with local communities and government agencies, the program emphasises the importance of the hospitality industry’s role in promoting sustainable tourism and destination management.
