When travelling to Europe, one can choose from a diverse range of sights: an eclectic mix of old cultures and modern lifestyles, beautiful countryside, fantastic shopping, and an evolving culinary scene with some premium vegetarian and Indian food options. LOT Polish Airlines, a Star Alliance member for over 20 years, offers daily flights from India to Poland, opening the door to some of the most enchanting travel experiences in 2025 and 2026: for example, Warsaw, Krakow and Gdansk.

While these three Polish cities may not be at the top of everyone’s Europe bucket list, they should be. They often surprise visitors with their authenticity, unforgettable experiences and hospitality.

Warsaw – the capital of Poland
Every visit to this vibrant city should begin with a stroll through the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For a deeper dive into history, visitors follow the Royal Route to elegant palaces and gardens, including the impressive Royal Castle, Łazienki Park and Wilanów Palace. For a bird’s-eye view, the Varso Tower is the place to be. The observation deck of the tallest building in the European Union offers a fantastic panoramic view. Furthermore, the Copernicus Science Centre combines fun with science. Its interactive exhibitions cover physics, biology and other scientific fields, encouraging experimentation and practical learning. Food lovers will find a wide range of excellent restaurants, from street food to fine dining. For several years, Warsaw has earned a fantastic reputation as one of the best destinations in the world for vegetarians and vegans.

Krakow – pure history
A trip to Kraków in southern Poland is like a journey back in time. The magnificent buildings of the market square and the pretty Old Town give visitors a sense at every turn that this was once home to the Polish kings. The 13th-century Cloth Hall is as fascinating as ever and an excellent place for shopping. Kraków is also an ideal starting point for day trips and longer excursions. The small town of Zakopane, situated at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, is a popular destination year-round. Those who prefer a more comfortable journey can take the cable car to the hill station at an altitude of 1,900 metres. Visiting the Wieliczka Salt Mine is a unique experience, and the Ojców National Park surprises visitors with its remarkable rock formations. A traditional rafting trip on the Dunajec River is a relaxing experience. Not only does it take you through the spectacular Dunajec Gorge, but the view of the picturesque Pieniny Mountains creates unforgettable holiday memories, too.

Gdansk – gateway to the Baltic Sea
The port city of Gdańsk combines maritime flair with a rich history from both the past and the present. Between the High Gate and the Green Gate, visitors get an authentic impression of what life was like when wealthy merchants lived here and the city was part of the Hanseatic League. The city’s landmark is the 1633 Neptune Fountain, while the outstanding Second World War Museum and the Gdansk Shipyard, the cradle of the 1980s Solidarity movement and thus also of Polish democracy, take visitors on a journey into the more recent past. Gdansk is also the centre of amber, a gemstone formed from fossilised resin which is often yellow. Known as the ‘gold of the Baltic Sea’, amber can be found in the sand on the seashore and is sold in countless shops. Those who prefer shopping for well-known brands at low prices should visit the Designer Outlet Gdansk.
