As travellers increasingly seek creative ways to celebrate cultural milestones, Chinese New Year
is being embraced not just as a festival, but as a time for renewal, intention-setting, and
togetherness. Marking the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse, JOALI Maldives invites guests
to step into a multi-day celebration where tradition meets creativity, wellness, and playful
discovery.
Rooted in JOALI Maldives’ philosophy of ‘the joy of creative living’, the island transforms into
a canvas of colour, movement, and inspiration throughout mid-February, offering guests of all
ages a thoughtfully curated Chinese New Year programme that celebrates fresh beginnings,
prosperity, and connection.

Culinary rituals and festive evenings take centre stage with ‘Tastes of the East’, a lavish Chinese
New Year buffet dinner hosted by the shore at Vandhoo and Bellinis Beach. Set against live
music and a festive island atmosphere, the evening is elevated by the dynamic energy of
traditional dragon dancers, creating a spectacle that brings family and friends together in
celebration.
Creativity flows through the programme with immersive art-led experiences such as Clay
Beginnings, a pottery workshop guided by JOALI Maldives’ Resident Artist, where guests are
invited to craft their keepsakes with intention and emotion. Nature continues to inspire the
celebrations through ‘My Island Muse: Nature Painting’, allowing guests to paint amidst the
colours of sea and sky, deepening their connection with the island landscape.

Wellbeing and movement play a central role in welcoming the New Year with balance and
vitality. The Fire Horse Ignite HIIT Session, inspired by the bold and energetic spirit of the
zodiac sign, offers a dynamic, complimentary workout designed to energise both body and mind.
At JOALI BEING Cure, guests can indulge in Oriental Qi: Rose Quartz Renewal, a 90-minute
holistic treatment combining therapeutic massage with a Rose Quartz Facial Lift—designed to
release tension, stimulate energy flow, and promote radiance throughout the festive month.
For younger guests, Muramas Kids Club hosts a full day of Chinese New Year festivities on 17
February filled with colour and imagination—from a lively dance session and a ‘Lucky Trail
Adventure’ scavenger hunt to dumpling-making workshops, lantern painting by the sea, kite
flying, mocktail creation, and a cosy movie night, ensuring the celebration becomes a joyful
memory for the entire family.
Through its Chinese New Year celebrations, JOALI Maldives reimagines the festival as more
than a moment in time—transforming it into a shared journey of creativity, wellbeing, cultural
discovery, and meaningful connection, all set against the natural beauty of the Maldives.
