It was a historic occasion for the Pink City as Jaipur was declared as a World Heritage site by UNESCO on February 5.

UNESCO Director, General Audrey Azoulay certified Jaipur as a World Heritage site at an occasion held at the famous Albert Hall in the Pink City on Wednesday. Shanti Dhariwal, Minister of Urban Development received the World Heritage City certificate from Azoulay.

Azoulay said, “UNESCO will collaborate with Rajasthan Government’s Tourism department to develop Western Rajasthan for tourism.”

Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot, tweeted that he is excited with the honour.

Several senior cabinet ministers in the Rajasthan Government attended the event which manifested the formal certification process of Jaipur as a World Heritage site. Besides Shanti Dhariwal, Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh, Energy Minister BD Kalla and Transport Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas were also present in the event.

Dhariwal told to the press, “The certification will help in bringing tourism. There are several places in Rajasthan which are not known to people across the globe but they will be on the radar.”

In this event, several folk singers showcased their talent before the dignitaries.
