As Goa approaches the final months of 2025, the State is ramping up its international connectivity with new direct flights, charter operations, and cruise access—all backed by record-breaking tourist statistics. Between January and June 2025, the State welcomed 5.45 million tourists (domestic + international), comprising 5.18 million domestic and 0.27 million international travelers, representing an 8.4% year-on-year increase.

The recent years have seen a remarkable increase in direct international flights and charter operations to Goa. With the Manohar International Airport in Mopa complementing the Dabolim Airport, Goa is now better equipped than ever to welcome global travelers. Goa is seeing increased charter flights from Poland, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, the UK, and Iran. Scheduled international flights have expanded, especially from countries in the Gulf region and Iran. Airlines are introducing new direct flight services, including the resumption of flights to Gatwick, UK, by the end of September. Starting October 5, three weekly flights will operate from Yekaterinburg, Russia, to Mopa Airport, each accommodating approximately 210 passengers. Cruise connectivity is also being developed further (charters + cruises), to complement air routes, especially for visitors arriving via maritime routes, adding another channel for international access.

Expanding International Connectivity
Enhanced connectivity has led to a steady rise in arrivals, with charter flights carrying thousands of tourists eager to discover Goa beyond its postcard image. This connectivity is more than a logistical achievement; it is a strategic step in positioning Goa as India’s gateway to global leisure and cultural tourism. Whether it is long-haul flights from Europe or short-haul links from regional hubs like Dubai, Doha, and Singapore, Goa is steadily weaving itself into international travel networks.

“During the 2024–25 season, Goa welcomed charter flights from countries like Poland, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, the UK, and Iran. This growth in air access is key to our tourism strategy. Better connectivity brings in a wider global audience and enables us to promote Goa’s rich offerings beyond the conventional. “Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Government of Goa, stated that we are witnessing the impact on our local economy and actively exploring new tourism circuits.”

Goa is expanding its appeal with a variety of experiences, including heritage walks in Latin quarters, explorations of the hinterlands, wellness retreats, adventure sports, and gourmet food trails. International travelers actively seek immersive, authentic, and sustainable experiences, and Goa stands out as an ideal destination to provide them.

“This past season has demonstrated that connectivity is key to tourism growth. With better air and maritime access, we have been able to welcome more visitors across seasons and from a wider range of source markets. For the upcoming season, we are working on increasing charters and exploring direct connectivity to many other countries as well. With infrastructure upgrades in airport operations, streamlined processes, and promotional campaigns, Goa expects the year-end months, festive season, New Year, etc., to see even more substantial international tourist footfall.
