Under the joint aegis of the Department of Tourism, Rajasthan, and SPIC MACAY, the Cultural Diaries – Anhad series will commence on 5 September 2025.
The Pink City, Jaipur, will host this unique cultural initiative in the first week of September. The inaugural presentation of the Anhad series will feature the legendary Hindustani classical vocalist Padma Bhushan Begum Parveen Sultana, who will grace the occasion with her spellbinding performance. Jaipurites will have the opportunity to witness her recital at the Rajasthan International Centre from 7 pm onwards.
Tourism Commissioner Rukmani Riar said that Cultural Diaries is a significant initiative to connect the younger generation with Rajasthan’s rich cultural heritage. She noted that the new chapter of Cultural Diaries begins with the performance of none other than Begum Parveen Sultana, one of India’s most distinguished classical vocalists. Her voice and artistry, she added, will make this initiative truly unforgettable.
It is worth mentioning that Begum Parveen Sultana hails from the Patiala Gharana. She was conferred the Padma Shri in 1976, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1998, and the Padma Bhushan in 2014. Her music is an exquisite blend of khayal, thumri, dadra, and film songs. Her unforgettable renditions include the evergreen “Hame Tumse Pyar Kitna” from Kudrat, “Aanan Milo Sajna” from Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, and “Vaada Tumse Hai” from 1920.
On the evening of 5 September, when Begum Parveen Sultana weaves magic with her ragas, it will not be just a performance but the beginning of a new chapter in Rajasthan’s cultural journey. The Rajasthan International Centre is the venue partner for this event.
