The Dusit Hotels and Resorts division of Dusit International has joined the GSTC to further its commitment to responsible tourism practices company-wide. GSTC is an international organization that unites both public and private sectors to advance ecotourism practices. Dusit hopes to improve cooperation, information exchange, and conformity with worldwide sustainability standards with this membership.
Dusit International has been in the hospitality business since 1949 and now manages 290 properties in 18 countries. The ‘Tree of Life’ program is the backbone of its sustainability strategy; it encompasses social and environmental principles in all aspect of the business, from water conservation and energy efficiency to waste management and community involvement. Renewable solutions, including solar panels, and energy management systems have been installed at several of the company’s sites. Additionally, it has implemented programs to deal with food waste by reducing, redistributing, and composting it, as well as to lessen the usage of single-use plastics.
“Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important consideration across the travel ecosystem, and it is important that we continue to learn, evolve, and engage with respected organisations helping to shape the future of responsible tourism,” said Chanin Donavanik, Group CEO and Chairman of the Sustainability Committee, Dusit International. We are taking a significant step forward in our international expansion with the addition of GSTC. We hope to make a lasting impact on the places and people we work with through Tree of Life.
Global Sustainable Tourism Council CEO Randy Durband extended a heartfelt greeting to Dusit Hotels & Resorts on behalf of the whole GSTC membership. Their support for our purpose is greatly appreciated, and we are forward to continue working together towards this important objective.
