Andhra Pradesh has placed temple tourism at the core of its growth strategy, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directing officials to develop global-standard homestays in temple towns. The goal is simple and impactful, create comfortable, well managed rooms that elevate pilgrim experiences while generating steady income for local families.
A special push is planned for Konaseema, where the government wants homestays supported through NRI participation. This will help small operators access capital, improve service quality, and keep more visitor spending within villages. The broader plan links pilgrimage, culture, nature, and community entrepreneurship to position Andhra Pradesh as a global tourism brand.
To build consistent, year-round demand, the state will curate marquee events across Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Amaravati, Tirupati, Anantapur, and Kurnool. Alongside events, the administration has set a clear capacity milestone, 10,000 additional rooms by March 2026, so that peak seasons do not strain accommodation and pricing.

Product development is another pillar. Visitors can expect a light and sound show at the Undavalli Caves, which will extend evening activity in the Amaravati region. The government is inviting private participation at Kondapalli Fort, turning the site into a stronger heritage attraction. Nature based stays will expand through tent cities in Gandikota, Araku, and Lambasingi, giving soft adventure travelers clean beds, guided trails, and sunrise viewpoints. Eco tourism at Chintapalli is also in the pipeline, adding low impact wilderness experiences to coastal and hill circuits.
Connectivity upgrades are designed to compress travel time and open new routes. The state is exploring helicopter and seaplane circuits, including Vijayawada to Srisailam, Gandikota to Bengaluru, and Visakhapatnam to Araku. Faster links make day trips practical, unlock premium sightseeing, and support weekend itineraries that combine temples, forts, caves, and green getaways.
Events will play a starring role in destination branding. The government aims to elevate Vijayawada Dasara to be on par with Mysuru’s celebrations, creating a headline festival that anchors annual bookings and showcases crafts, cuisine, music, and dance. Plans also reference a major attraction in Anantapur, which would add scale to the state’s leisure offering. Rajahmundry is set to grow as a hub for the Godavari belt, improving access to riverfront and cultural experiences.
Execution will decide success. The focus now is on standards, sustainability, training, and transparent partnerships. With quality homestays, better storytelling at heritage sites, and smart connectivity, Andhra Pradesh can convert this roadmap into a trusted, year-round destination for pilgrims and explorers alike.
