An acquisition of a five-star resort in Kumarakom, Kerala, has been finalised by ITC Hotels Limited, further solidifying the company’s position in a popular tourist spot in India. At an enterprise value of Rs 205 crore, subject to customary adjustments, the business would acquire a 100 per cent stake in Zuri Hotels & Resorts Private Limited (ZHRPL). ZHRPL owns The Zuri Kumarakom, Kerala Resort & Spa. Within the next few days, the deal should close.
Located on the shores of Vembanad Lake, this 72-key resort features 38 villas and cottages, various restaurants, event spaces, and a spa and wellness center spanning nearly 20,000 square feet. The hotel welcomes guests from all over the world and is situated approximately 70 km from Cochin. After the purchase and renovations are completed, the resort will be renamed as an ITC Hotel. According to the business, the hotel would use ITC Hotels’ health, culinary, and loyalty program services while also incorporating local craftsmanship and regional architectural features.
The purchase of this special property in Kumarakom is a significant step in our plan to increase our presence in one of the most popular tourist spots in India,” stated Anil Chadha, managing director of ITC Hotels Limited. We are ecstatic to introduce our luxury products to this tranquil backwater sanctuary in Kerala, a destination renowned for its rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes. We hope to improve the visitor experience at this legendary resort by bringing our world-renowned Ayurvedic wellness services and internationally acclaimed cuisine together. This decision further solidifies our dedication to providing genuine experiences that will shape the future of Indian hospitality.
Along with adding to its already extensive collection of five-star properties in Kerala, this acquisition would make ITC Hotels the proud owner of the state’s first resort.
