In observance of World No Tobacco Day, GRT Hotels & Resorts hosted the “Breathe Free Walkathon 2026” on May 31, bringing together members of the local community, staff, and guests from all of its properties.

The program was carried out in all 22 hotels in the group, spread across 5 states, at the same time. The business reports that nearly 2,000 people—including hotel guests, employees, families, and members of the community—participated in a 3-kilometer walk to promote smoke-free lifestyles.

Aiming to encourage wellness and mindful living among stakeholders, the group’s “GReaT Being” program organised the walkathon. Additionally, the project is in line with the ESG goals and the company’s larger hospitality initiatives.

“Our walkathon reflected GRT Hotels & Resorts’ larger purpose of creating healthier communities,” shared Vikram Cotah, CEO of GRT Hotels & Resorts, on World No Tobacco Day. As the first integrated no-tobacco hotel chain in India, we are committed to going above and beyond the call of duty to encourage our guests to lead more conscious lives and make better decisions. We aim to establish communities that thrive physically, emotionally, and environmentally through our ESG journey and programs like GReaT Being, which promote the well-being of our guests, employees, families, and society as a whole.

According to the company, almost 6.5 million steps were recorded by all participants. The program’s goals included getting more people moving and educating them on the dangers of tobacco usage through various advocacy and community outreach initiatives.

According to GRT Hotels & Resorts, the event is a continuation of their continuous endeavours to encourage healthy lifestyles and wellness-focused practices in the areas where they have properties.
