With the Bharat EkSaath Walkathon in Delhi-NCR, Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) celebrated the fourth year of their ESG+ framework, Paathya, an effort that aims to engage the community and have a social impact. Employees, their families, business partners, and members of the surrounding communities participated in the three-kilometer walkathon, which took place at several venues. The campaign is in support of the Taj Public Service Welfare Trust (TPSWT) and is being carried out concurrently in over 200 sites across 14 countries.

The Taj Mahal, New Delhi, Taj Palace, and Taj City Centre Gurugram were the venues for events in the Delhi-National Capital Region. Various properties and partner organisations from IHCL were in attendance. As an example of a welcoming attitude toward community involvement, the program also included children, veterans of the military, and non-profit organisations.

“At IHCL, we believe that hospitality extends beyond our hotels and into the communities we serve,” stated Dr. Anmol Ahluwalia, Area Director – Operations and General Manager of the Taj Mahal in New Delhi. By endorsing the work of the Taj Public Service Welfare Trust, Bharat EkSaath demonstrates this principle. A culture of inclusivity, responsibility, and the principles of Paathya are being reinforced by the massive gathering of our patrons, associates, and families, which is quite gratifying.

“Bharat EkSaath comes alive through the participation of our associates across locations,” noted Vinod Pandey, Area Director – Operations and General Manager of Taj Damdama Lake Resort & Spa in Gurugram. Seeing this communal enthusiasm materialise into a cohesive movement that embodies the values and character that characterise IHCL is heartening.

“At Taj Palace, New Delhi, we brought the community together in a way that reflected the true spirit of Bharat EkSaath,” remarked Praydhumna Singh Rathore, General Manager of Taj Palace, New Delhi. A common goal brought together young people with disabilities, the elderly, and veterans of the armed forces as they walked side by side. We were able to expand the program beyond our staff and include the larger community with the support of partners like Shakti Shalini, Sankalp, and Muskaan Foundation. This experience reinforced our belief that collective action leads to enduring social impact.
