The Ministry of Tourism, along with its subordinate offices and allied institutions—including India Tourism Domestic Offices, the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), Central Institutes of Hotel Management (CIHMs), and Indian Culinary Institutes (ICIs)—successfully concluded the Government of India’s Special Campaign 5.0, aimed at clearing pending matters and improving cleanliness across departments.
The campaign team successfully achieved 6,378 out of the 6,429 targets they identified. The initiative freed 92,749 sq. ft. of space, while the disposal of scrap materials generated revenue of ₹12,69,002. The records management team weeded out 4,710 physical files and closed 1,114 electronic files, enhancing the efficiency of the record management systems.
A total of 413 Swachhata activities were carried out nationwide, with extensive participation from students of Central IHMs and various tourism stakeholders. These activities extended beyond the office and institute premises into tourist areas, reinforcing the sector’s commitment to promoting clean, welcoming environments for visitors.
The campaign also emphasised plantation drives, the rejuvenation of shared spaces, and responsible e-waste disposal—all aligned with the core objectives of Special Campaign 5.0. The team achieved significant improvements in record room management by removing obsolete files and unused items, resulting in a more functional and organised workspace.
The Ministry shared updates and highlights of the campaign widely across social media to enhance public awareness and encourage continued participation in cleanliness and efficiency initiatives.
